About Come Back to Colorado

After my last album, 7 Crows, was released, Leslie and I started thinking about writing songs for the next project. We asked Kate Willyard, who sings the background vocals on all my albums – and sings The Empty Chair on 7 Crows - if she would co-write some new songs with us. Kate agreed. We co-wrote 8 songs for this next record, and I wrote one by myself. We are including “Dirty Annie” on this album too, but Kate wrote that one all on her own. It was recorded almost 2 years ago with Scott Smith engineering.

This new album is produced by Fred Kosak, and engineered by Jeff Jones. It was mainly recorded at Eagle Sound in Durango, and Jeff was assisted by Doug Eagle in his studio. Jeff mixed this new album, and Airshow Mastering has mastered it. The same group of studio musicians play on this album that have played on all my previous albums. I am grateful for their collaboration, as always.

This album is “Rob Wigley feat. Kate Willyard”. As I wrote above, Kate co-wrote 8 of these songs with Leslie and me, and she sings lead vocals on all but two. I sing “Come Back To Colorado” and “Everything”. When we first got in the studio to record this album both Kate and I had colds, so we both had to redo all our vocals later. This is the first album that I’ve done harmonies on, which was fun! Whiskey helps! (Tequila would have been better)

Leslie and I are already hard at work writing songs for the next album. I hope to get in the studio and start recording near the end of 2025. Meanwhile, thanks to all the musicians, thanks to Jeff Jones, and a big thank you to Fred Kosak. And lastly, thanks to my wife and partner, Leslie, for everything!
