About The Album Light This Fuse

My 6th album, Light This Fuse, has been the fastest album to come together since my 1st one, Cascade. We recorded these tracks in early February, 2026 with the usual group of musicians that have played on all my other albums - but with the addition of Jennifer Grais on background vocals. Fred Kosak and Scott Smith co-produced this album, and Fred brought some new ideas into the studio for this one. Fred wanted the band to be “fixed”- for everyone to play on each track and not to overdub much, if at all. Fred only plays electric guitar on this album, and both he and Alissa Wolf (on fiddle) use their effects pedals on almost every song. This album’s songs are a bit darker, for the most part, than my usual songs, so the change in “vibe” is pretty evident. I’m not sure exactly why these songs tended toward some darkness, but I am really pleased with the way this album sounds. There are three rock songs on this album, and I play my 1966 Gibson SG Junior (featured on the cover!) on five songs. ~ Rob Wigley, June 14, 2026

Gratitude

Many, many thanks to Fred and Scott as well as all the musicians who played on these sessions and for their creative input. I’ve joked that these musicians could easily be called “The Durango Wrecking Crew” because they are that good! There are only a couple of songs that I redid my vocals on – almost all used the “studio live scratch” vocals. I always like to try to keep those original vocals whenever possible. I love the “studio energy” that happens when we record. And, like always, the time in the studio passes way too quickly. We will start writing songs for the 7th album soon and plan to get back into the studio in 2027. This album, like all my others, is dedicated to my wife and partner, Leslie. None of this would ever have happened without her being here with me.
