Leslie wrote most of the lyrics for this song and has never really been satisfied with it. I pretty much insisted that we put this song on this album. After we recorded it, with Leslie being unhappy with the lyrics, I changed it to a duet, making very minor lyric changes to accomplish it. Leslie liked it better and I told her that sometimes you just have to put it out there, that not every song is going to be perfect. The song tells the story of what women go through with men, that they don’t often have equal power in a relationship. My contribution, when I adjusted lyrics for a duet, was to have the man sing, “no, you’ll never win”. Leslie’s main issue with the song is feeling the lyrics were awkward in some places, but that was resolved with the change to a duet. In any case, she says she is completely happy she met me, and I was NOT the inspiration for this song! I like the song, and I’m glad Leslie let me put it on this record!
